Portraits of a maker

Craft has always been portrayed as a distant trade, a certain disconnect between the master and the everyday folks. Yet, in all these while visiting and meeting with the makers, they are not much different from any of us. A father, a son, or perhaps husband and wife, these are faces behind every object we present in the KOBO Label.

I realised that when a man knows his/her calling, you can tell from their countenance.

These photos are taken by Jotham Koh, from his on-going body of work titled “Takumi, the life of a craftsman”
